“This is my comfort in my affliction: Your promise has given me life. (Psalms 119:50, HSCB)
Where do you turn for comfort in your affliction? Food? Money? Shopping? Medicine? Alcohol? Drugs? Relationships?
It’s our nature to seek ways to ease our pain. Many things in this world promise relief, but they provide only temporary results. When the numbness wears off, we’re just as empty as before.
Have you been there? I have!
This kind of living offers no hope. Only emptiness, loneliness, and despair.
…But, when we turn to God’s Word, we receive Life.
God’s promises bring lasting comfort. His Word reminds us that we are loved, cared for, and wanted by our Heavenly Father.
Sweet friend, are you hurting right now? Turn to God’s Word for your comfort. Immerse yourself in His promises, and you’ll soon discover that with Him, all things are possible.
Lord, forgive me for turning to other things and people to numb my pain. Help me find complete and sufficient comfort in You. Word of God, speak to this broken vessel that desperately needs Your comfort. Renew my life and use Your Word to strengthen me this day and in the days to come. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
