“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1, NLT)
Do you ever feel like God gets tired of hearing you say “I did it again, Lord. Please forgive me.”
… Maybe it’s a sin you’re struggling to let go of? Or an unhealthy habit?
… Perhaps you hear the enemy whisper, “God has had enough with your failures!”
… And these whispers leave you questioning why you should try again.
Friend, don’t give up—don’t quit!
Instead, allow Truth to speak louder than these whispers.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9, ESV)
He is faithful—not us. This is why I imagine we can all relate to Paul when he says,
“For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.” (Romans 7:15–20, ESV)
Paul goes on to proclaim he is a wretched man and questions who will deliver him (Romans 7:24). Our predicament seems bleak, doesn’t it? But listen carefully to what Paul proclaims as Truth, friend…
“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to Him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.” (Roman 8:1–2, NLT)
Because of such freedom, you can continue pursuing what is right!
Lord, thank You that when I am faithless, You are faithful. And when I am impatient, You are patient. Thank You for not giving up on me. I love You, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
