“. . .as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive” (Colossians 3:13, ESV).
Are you stuck in life, always thinking about who hurt you and how? Do you re-live the pain each day, consumed by accusations?
… This is all your fault!
… You knew I couldn’t handle this, but you did it anyway!
… I am like this because of you!
… You always hurt me!
… I trusted you!
Sweet friend, I have been there—and was stuck there way too long.
Then, one day… God gave me eyes to see that I needed to put my hurt at the feet of Jesus and forgive those who hurt me.
Yes, forgiveness feels so hard. But, I promise you—it is so worth it. Laying our burdens down at the foot of the cross opens up space in our hearts for God to heal us, to make us whole again.
And when we forgive, our minds, over time, quit reliving the past, as we make room for God’s Truth.
Whatever you are holding onto today, lay it at the foot of the cross and forgive whom you need to forgive. Jesus will walk with you through the pain.
Heavenly Father, the pain from this hurt is crippling. I need to lay this wrong done to me at Your feet and forgive, but I do not know how. Show me how, Lord. Then, give me the strength to do so. I need Your healing. I want joy in my life again. Help me, Jesus. This I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
