“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” (Galatians 1:10, ESV)
Have you ever found yourself in a place where you knew God wanted you to speak Light into darkness? But all you really wanted to do was stay hidden in the dark?
If so, I totally relate.
In these moments, I quietly and sporadically start asking God questions that I already know the answers to.
…“God, do I really need to share Your Word in this moment? I know I am called to be light, but nothing I say will change this situation. Besides, not one person here wants to hear anything about Truth. So, do I really need to say something, right now… about You?”
Sound familiar? Like me, maybe you have been in this uncomfortable place having this conversation with God.
… Perhaps you have found yourself weighing out the pros and cons, rationalizing the reasons why you should keep quiet.
But what if God, in His sovereignty, places us in uncomfortable places to grow us in faith and to be the voice of grace in darkness?
What if His Truth spoken in darkness brings one to repentance? Brings one to Christ?
Heavenly Father, I know we are called to please You and not man. But in these uncomfortable places, I struggle with a desire to stay hidden. Give me the courage to be light in darkness. Give those who are in darkness, the eyes and ears to see and hear Your Truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
